Garlic powder

Thaw turkey well (~24 hours for every 5lbs of turkey)

Put in sink, and remove neck and bag of giblets

Rub all over with shortening

Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder - rub in as needed.

Put on rack in roasting pan, with breast-side up

Roast at 325 degrees, approximately 1 hour for every 6lbs of turkey

Use meat thermometer, to make sure that breast temp is up to 165 degrees before declaring cooked≥

Let rest for 10 minutes after removing from roasting pan, before carving.
